1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Snowsurance collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information through:

Payment information

Payment information is processed by Stripe or another authorized payment processor. Snowsurance may receive transaction identifiers, payment tokens, card type, partial card details, billing information, payment status, and related records. We generally do not receive or store complete payment-card numbers or security codes.

Property photographs and videos

Snowsurance and its service providers or subcontractors may capture property photographs or videos for identification, routing, planning, safety, training, quality control, proof of service, billing, insurance, and dispute resolution. Property or completed-service images may be used for marketing as described in the signed service agreement. Customers may request that future marketing use stop by contacting hello@snowsurance.com. This does not restrict necessary operational uses or require recall of material previously printed, published, distributed, or incorporated into existing content. We do not intentionally feature an identifiable person in advertising without an appropriate release.

Calls and communications

We may retain emails, text messages, customer-support communications, and related metadata. We do not routinely record telephone calls. If a call will be recorded, we will provide notice and obtain consent as required by applicable law.

Information collected automatically

When you use our website or app, we or our service providers may automatically collect:

  • IP address;

  • Browser type and settings;

  • Device type, operating system, and identifiers;

  • Approximate location derived from an IP address;

  • Pages viewed and links selected;

We use or may use Google Analytics, Google Ads, Squarespace analytics, and tools supplied by advertising or lead-generation platforms. We do not sell personal information for money. However, some privacy laws may define disclosures of online identifiers or activity to advertising providers as “sharing,” “targeted advertising,” or a “sale,” even when no money is exchanged. You may restrict cookies through your browser settings. Restricting cookies may affect website or app functionality. Browser-based “Do Not Track” signals are not governed by a uniform industry standard.   • WaveApps for accounting and financial administration;

  • OptimoRoute for routing and operational planning;

  • WeatherWorks for weather and snowfall information;

  • SendGrid and Twilio for email and text communications; and

  • Other hosting, security, support, mapping, storage, analytics, and professional-service providers.

These providers may process information subject to their contracts with us and their own applicable terms and privacy obligations.

Service personnel and subcontractors

We may provide personnel and subcontractors with property, access, contact, routing, safety, and service information reasonably necessary to perform and document services.

Advertising and lead-generation platforms

We may disclose or receive online identifiers, referral information, lead information, conversion events, or advertising-performance data through Google, Nextdoor, Yelp, Thumbtack, and similar platforms. When you submit information directly to a third-party platform, that platform’s privacy policy also applies.

Legal and business purposes

We may disclose information:

  • To comply with law, legal process, or lawful government requests;

  • To investigate fraud, misuse, security incidents, or illegal activity;

  • To protect rights, safety, property, customers, personnel, contractors, or the public;

  • To insurers, attorneys, accountants, auditors, and other professional advisers;

  • In connection with financing, corporate restructuring, merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar business transaction; or

  • With your direction or consent.

6. No sale of personal information

Snowsurance does not sell personal information for money. We do not sell or disclose mobile opt-in information, SMS consent records, or phone numbers to third parties for their own marketing purposes. As explained above, analytics and advertising technologies may involve disclosures that certain laws define as sharing or targeted advertising. You may contact us to request restriction of those uses.

7. Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including:

  • Providing requested information and services;

  • Maintaining customer and property history;

  • Fulfilling contracts and payment obligations;

  • Documenting consent and opt-out requests;

  • Complying with tax, accounting, insurance, and legal requirements;

  • Preventing fraud and protecting security;

  • Resolving disputes and enforcing agreements; and

  • Establishing, exercising, or defending legal claims.

Retention periods vary by record type. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it, subject to legal holds, backup cycles, and applicable recordkeeping requirements.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. These measures may include access restrictions, authentication controls, encryption where appropriate, vendor management, backups, monitoring, and security procedures. No website, transmission method, or storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our website contains general information suitable for a broad audience, but our pricing forms, accounts, marketing programs, and services are not directed to children under 13. A person must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized concerning the property to request services, create an account, consent to marketing messages, provide payment information, or sign a service agreement.
